Beverly Bryon

US-born, Beverly Bryon’s early education was in Long Island, New York, England, and Seattle, Washington. Studied Fine Art at College of Marin, San Francisco, moving back to England in 1970 to study painting. Specialised in photography, at Byam Shaw School of Drawing and Painting. London. Honours Diploma in Fine Art. Exhibited photographs widely in Britain. Achieved special recognition: Arts Council of Great Britain acquisition of images for its collection.

Progressed from photography to stained glass. Formed Skylight Stained Glass Design partnership, producing terrariums for UK and overseas markets. Founded Prisms Glass Design in 1987.

Created large, atmospheric, paintings and environmental pieces. Fascinated by the effects created by light and its influence on the surroundings. Attracted to the subtlety of colours and the style of the glass; produces works of abstract and stylised linear design. Essentially, her work maximises the effects of the diffraction of light, in harmony with the environment.

Designs and produces windows, screens, lighting, mirrors, doors and panels using traditional lead and ‘Tiffany’ copper-foil techniques, combined with hand-blown and machine-antiqued glass, acid-etching, sandblasting and carving, painting, and silver-staining, as well as fused, slumped and bonded glass. Commissions come from interior designers and architects, Public Art bodies, as well as private individuals. Especially enjoys involving clients in the design process.
